Artist Gale Tuoti has always been inspired by the beauty and colors of the Southwest. Her original designs reflect a deep appreciation of the nature and animals found in the Arizona and New Mexico deserts. Gale is a native of Peoria, Illinois and later studied at the University of Arizona. Following college, Gale went on to a broadcast writing career, which culminated as Director of Public Relations for the ABC Radio Network in New York City. In 1977, her love of the Southwest compelled her to end a successful business career and return to Tucson where she began capturing the Southwest in acrylics and watercolors. Since then, Gale's stunning and colorful art has been reproduced by many leading manufacturers. Her work is sold in hundreds of boutiques, resorts, museums, and stores around the country. Gale has contributed her time and art for the Southern Arizona Arthritis Foundation's holiday cards for the past twelve years. In 1996, she was honored with the Arthritis Foundation's coveted "Philanthropist of the Year" award in recognition of her contributions.
While Gale's interest in the beautiful landscape of the Southwest is the source of inspiration for a significant part of her work, she also paints florals, animals, and images inspired by rock and cave imagery. The artist lives with her husband, Frank, a nationally known author and cats Mandy and Molly. She works in her home studio in the foothills of the beautiful Sonoran desert in Tucson, Arizona. |
